Learn how to make encrypted voice and video calls in Beam

Voice or Video Calling

Like all Beam messages, voice and video calls are encrypted too. You will be prompted to grant the Camera and Microphone permission the first time you make or receive a Beam call.

Here's how to start an encrypted one-to-one voice or video call:

  1. In Beam, tap compose icon or compose icon to view your contact list.
  2. Select a contact or enter a number to open that conversation.
  3. Tap phone icon the phone icon to start a voice call or camera icon the camera icon to start a video call.
  4. Select Join the conversation in the call screen.
  5. During the call you have several icons at your disposal:
  • microphone icon Microphone turn On or Off
  • sound icon Sound turn On or Off
  • camera icon Camera turn On or Off
  • smiley icon Send a Smiley during the call
  • settings icon Settings for Audio and Video
  • terminate icon Terminate call
